…If I’m not mistaken, this is the very reason ZUN does not want a proper Touhou anime. He doesn’t want people to go “hey, that character’s from that one anime”; he wants people to go “hey, that character’s from that one game”.

Sweet! Nakahara Mai’s in it! That’s a good enough reason to watch this doujin (I just loved it when she played Rena Ryuugu and Nagisa Furukawa).
Now, when you see Ran Yakumo (or someone else from Touhou) somewhere on the net, you can say she’s from an anime as well :P
Now I just have to watch it! xD

I guess should have been more clear. I meant that i did not like the change in character design from the trailer to the finished product.

Obviously if they can afford Japanese voice actresses that are big names, they will confuse some people.

Also There are doujins done all the time by professional manga writers and artists. and many got their start in doujins.

As for doujin anime i am not sure how much of that happens with animators or writers that are professionals.

This anime had a nice painterly look to it, and the backgrounds were gorgeous.

I’m glad its not hentai, or fanservice in your face crap and tries to tell a story. Those who don’t play the shooting games can enjoy the story itself.
Thats why the creator of the games being against a touhou official production is dumb.

You can’t be serious? You expect Haruhi/Kannagi quality from a group of fans? This was *not* a professional production.

I watched the anime doujin and the animation was strictly amateur. I was rather dissapointed. I had hoped at least on the level of quality as Haruhi Suzumiya, or Kannagi, or maybe toradora.
There are other anime with japanese youkai like Rosario to Vampire which have better animation.

Well, well. What happened to my perfect Touhou anime? :/
I was expecting a tsunderekko-typed voice for Remilia at least, and I think either Kugimiya Rie or Fujimura Ayumi would be more suited for that, while Minorin would be better off as Patchouli.
But I love the rest of the cast list, though.

Animation is top-notch but character design and drawings seem to be pulling it down.
